The environment needs our help
Environmental issues whether it’s the rise of pollution levels, global warming, depletion of the ozone layer, ocean acidification, habitat loss, land degradation to name a few are a matter of concern these days. We all are sentient about these issues just not enough to be a part of the solution instead of being a part of the problem.
I reckon we all are aware of the consequences we might face because of environmental degradation. Hence, we ought to find a solution and stop being ignorant. Here in this article, I’ll talk about the steps we can take at an individual level and serve the environment in the best way possible.
Here are the steps we can follow at an individual level to make our mother Earth delightful.
- Change your car driving habits:
Walk down if possible and avoid using vehicles for a short distance. Also, try carpooling or ride a bicycle.
- Notice how you use water:
Only 0.5% of earth’s water is available for drinking for 7.8 billion people, on this account use water judiciously. For instance, take shorter showers, turn off the water while brushing or shaving, check for leaks.
- Reduce the amount of paper in your life:
We need to reduce paper usage, better learn how to be paperless. Avoid printing, use electronic storage, or buy recycled paper.
- Cherish the old stuff:
Be creative about using old stuff instead of throwing. Waste is only waste if nothing can be done to make it useful.
- Bag it yourself:
Always carry your own reusable, jute, or cotton bags to reduce plastic waste.
- Treasure the trees:
Other than absorbing Carbon and reducing the rate of global warming, trees also help prevent flooding and soil erosion, also reduce wind speed and temperature.
- Save electricity:
Sources of electricity such as coal are depleting, so it’s important to be mindful of electricity use. Methods of saving electricity are quite simple, don’t use unnecessary lights, unplug used electronics.
- Switch protein sources:
Curbing the world’s huge and increasing appetite for meat is essential to avoid devastating climate change. Switch to a plant-based protein like chia seeds, chickpea, lentils to name a few.
Now, you’ll wonder about environmental deterioration being a global problem its solutions must be universal. Stop saying, “I alone cannot bring a major change” remember, “Little drops of water make a mighty ocean”
