Nowadays, every small thing in Bollywood gets into controversy as netizens feel that any particular element, whether its promo, character or even title is hurting their sentiments or portray or distort the history. Akshay Kumar’s Upcoming film ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ has been renamed to ‘Laxmmi’.
This is not the first time where we saw producers changing the titles of their movies from being landing in trouble.
There was a lot of heat for the title of the film. Even before the trailer of the movie came out, people came out in protest. Though the trailer received a huge response from the audience, a section of social media users expressed their displeasure with the film’s title as they believe it insulted Hindu Goddess Lakshmi.
The film ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ is alleged by some that it promotes love Jihad and objected to its name ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ and has declared it against Hinduism. The hashtag #BoycottLaxmmiBomb trended on Twitter last week. Mr Rajput of Karni Sena had also issues legal notice to regarding the tittle of the film.

Mukesh Khanna also expressed anger at the film. He said adding bombs in front of Laxmi seems mischievous. This seems to be a commercial advantage. According to Director Raghav Lawrence, the film was named Laxmi Bomb because the character of Laxmi comes like a blast in the film where Laxmi is a transgender women, who is very powerful.
The movie went for censor certificate on Thursday and was discussed with the CBFC and after the screening, keeping in mind the sentiments of the audience, the film name changed from “Laxmmi Bomb” to “Laxmmi”.
The film will be released digitally on 9 November. The film stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role in opposite to Kiara Advani. Akshay will be seen playing role of Arif and Laxmi. The film is a remake of Tamil film “Kanchana”.
