The elections attracted over 1.53 lakh registered voters, with nearly 40% turnout, higher than last year, which has shown increasing student interest.

Contrasting with this aura of fervor, youth participation in voting is a cause for concern, as less than half of the eligible voters have turned out. There are also concerns to make voting more accessible and increase participation.

The continued contest and at rare times, alliance of ABVP-NSUI reflects not only campus politics but the larger political landscape of the city and country too. As the new set of student leaders takes over, hopes will be pinned on better infrastructure for the campus, mental health facilities, and more progressive policies shaped by the voice of the youth.

JNU and Other Universities

While Delhi University elections made headlines, Jawaharlal Nehru University also saw high engagement, mostly with Left-aligned candidates leading the charge in their student union polls, as if indicating a different ideological preference in their student body.
