The Indian government’s position that they are trying to consider the two full shot options comes in the wake of red flags raised by vaccine experts about the “positive” interim data, in the light of AstraZeneca’s admission that there was an “inadvertent dosing error” during the global clinical trials.
Trials of the Oxford vaccine show it stops 70% of people developing COVID-19 symptoms.

The data also shows a strong immune response in older people.
There are also intriguing data that suggests perfecting the dose could increase protection up to 90%.

The UK has ordered 100 million doses.
It is given in two doses.
Trials with more than 20,000 volunteers are still continuing.
This may be one of the easiest vaccines to distribute because it does not need to be stored at very cold temperatures.
It is made from a weakened version of a common cold virus from chimpanzees, that has been modified to not grow in humans.

About 30 crore people will be part of the first “wave” to get the corona vaccine in India. They consist of health care workers, police personnel, those above 50 and those younger with underlying illnesses that make them vulnerable, said Principal Scientific Adviser K. VijayRaghavan.

He was speaking at a meeting organised by the Science Ministry and the Confederation of Indian Industry on Thursday. Mr VijayRaghavan said the national vaccine committee, headed by Dr V.K. Paul, had finalised a broad blueprint.

Thanks to all frontline workers for their immense hard work. Now, Let’s hope for the best. Good days are coming soon.
