Amid the swirling Novel corona virus cases all over the World, positive news is unfamiliar to all of us. In the midst of all this, we seem to see the ray of hope named “COVAXIN”.
WHAT IS COVAXIN?
COVAXIN is the first indigenous COVID19 vaccine is approved for human trials which will be started across the India as early as July. It is developed by Bharat Biotech in the collaboration with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Institute of Virology (NIV).
HOW WAS IT DEVELOPED?
NIV, National Institute of Virology isolated the strain of corona virus from an asymptotic patient of covid19 then it was transferred to Bharat Biotech, a well-known Hyderabad based Pharma Company. They started working on discovering the vaccine .The immense effort of scientists did not fail at all. Once the vaccine is injected to human body, it has no capability to replicate or infect the human cell.
COVAXIN passed all the preclinical trials successfully and it has shown desired immune response.
The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has given the approvals to Bharat Biotech to start testing its efficacy on humans through phase 1 and phase 2 clinical trials. First
Phase generally conducts on a small group of individuals. After that number will be increased.
Though Bharat Biotech has not elaborate the further process they are going through yet, still all are waiting to get something effective.
OTHER INDIAN COMPANIES AND COVID 19
Others Indian companies like Zydus Candila, Pune based Serum Institute and Panacea Biotech are working efficiently on developing corona virus vaccine. Though Panacea is still in the pre-clinical trials, Serum Institute have completed pre-clinical studies and waiting for the approval of human trials. Apart from these, Zydus Candila is working on two vaccines.
INDICATION OF ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT
“COVAXIN” is the big boost for India. Somehow it gives the indication of SELF-RELIANT Country which brings India one step ahead towards World’s door to a COVID19 vaccine. The graph of covid19 cases in India is surging vigorously. Scientists all over the world are working day and night on discovering vaccines. Nothing can be better than this to get a good news like developing vaccines in such a terrible moment. If everything goes well then COVAXIN will be marketed soon. Let’s hope for the best that we do have vaccine in our hand in the ending of 2020 and this will push forward to build an ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT.
